Nexus Notes Limited (‘Nexus’ ‘we’ ‘us’ ‘our’) is committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy notice explains how and why we use your information when you visit our website (‘the Platform’) or use our services.

We are the data controller of the personal information we process.

How we collect your information

We may collect information when you:

  • browse and use our Platform
  • create a member account with us
  • sign up for a subscription
  • upload or download study notes (‘Notes’) to the Platform
  • request feedback on your work via our Tutor service
  • sign up to be a Tutor
  • give us your consent for us to contact you via email, post or message
  • get in touch with us directly via email, phone, post, message or social media platforms

We may also collect information from third party sites such as analytic or advertising platforms.

Information we collect about you

  • When you sign up for an account we collect data such as: your name, date of birth, email address, username, phone number, gender, address, country, schools and universities you attended, courses you studied and your year of graduation.
  • If you reach out to us via any social media platforms, we may collect public details from your social media profile, and the content of your messages or posts you make to us.
  • We will collect details about payments to and from your Nexus accounts including: any subscriptions you sign up for from us; or any author commission that has been generated from any Notes you upload, or tutor commission from any feedback you provide.
  • Details you give us which we pass to our partners when you let us know you’re interested in their services (like recruitment companies and graduate hiring companies).
  • Information you give us through any chat or messaging services. Any answers you give to any surveys or reviews about Nexus, our services, or Notes. We may collect user content that you post on our Platform, such as Note reviews.
  • We may collect information about your interactions with our Platform and services: such as Notes you have downloaded to your library, or inferences drawn about your preferences based on your usage of the Platform.
  • Technical information may be collected from any devices you use to access our Platform or Services such as: mobile device ID, internet protocol (IP) address, your login data, browser type, time zone setting and location, URL information, operating system and platform and other technology related information about the devices you use to access the Platform.

Cookies

Cookies help keep you and Nexus safe and give you a better experience on the Platform. Cookies help a site, like our Platform, remember you, so it knows when you come back. They help the Platform then show things that are relevant to you, or help remember information you’ve already entered so you don’t need to do it again. The length of time cookies are stored depends on the cookies, some cookies we use last only until you leave the Platform and close your internet browser, others will last longer in order to remember you each time you visit the Platform.

We use strictly necessary cookies if they are necessary for the performance of a contract with you, or because using them is in our legitimate interests. We use all other cookies with your consent.

Most are third party cookies that belong to another website and not Nexus.

You don’t have to share information about yourself if you don’t want to. But if you don’t you may not be able to use some (or any) of our services.

Marketing

Marketing preferences means what information you would or would not like to receive from us, including if you have opted into or out of any direct marketing. We will use your information to let you know about other products or services (such as graduate hiring & recruitment) that may be of interest to you where you have given your consent and where we have a legitimate interest in doing so. Who we share your information with

We may share your information with the following types of third parties:

  • companies that give services to us. They may have access to your information if it is necessary for them to perform their tasks on our behalf. They are obligated to not disclose or use it for any other purposes.
  • anyone you give us permission to share it with. This will may include companies that reach out to introduce their own services to you via our Platform or by other ways of contact you have agreed to.
  • law enforcement or fraud agencies such as banks, the courts or police.
  • other external parties where necessary to meet to our legal obligations.

We may also share your details with people or companies such as owners or advisors if our business purchases another business, or is sold or merged with another business.

Transfer of your information

Perfornal information we collect about you might be processed outside the European Economic Area (‘EEA’). We will implement appropriate safeguards to ensure a similar degree of protection is afforded to it as if it were processed in the EEA.
